As a student at Pratt Institute, Irv Koons financed most of his tuition and expenses through selling illustrations to publications. His first major commissions were for a series of humorous best selling books for Simon and Schuster and Random House.

Simultaneous to developing an internationally known design firm, he continued to produce editorial, advertising, and promotional illustrations for a variety of clients including Good Housekeeping, Ladies Home Journal, Sports Illustrated, Seventeen, Argosy, Today’s Woman, Family Circle, Fortune, Holiday Magazine, Tom Thumb’s Magazine for Little Folks, Time-Life, Lederle Laboratories, Sharp and Dohme, Burlington Mills, Dupont, Metropolitan Life Insurance,First National City Bank, and many others.

After Saatchi and Saatchi Worldwide acquired his design firm, he accepted an appointment as Senior Advisor to the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme. He recently resigned from this position allowing him the flexibility to concentrate on illustration, specializing in children’s books and Judaica. He is now available for additional illustration projects.
